With Valentine's Day just around the corner, Rosemount High School, Perspectives I and II High School students under the guidance of Spiritual Community Animator, Mr. Vince Lacroce, and Ms. Maria Crecca, Technicien En Loisirs of Centre D'Accueil Dante, will be gearing up for their annual “Will you be my Valentine?” program. This intergenerational program was developed to promote the virtues of love and compassion for those in our community. Over 25 students will be fundraising for NEW stuffed animals, Valentine’s Day cards, chocolates and other gifts to be distributed to seniors at Centre D'Accueil Dante. All extra gifts collected will be donated to the Montreal Autism Center. On February 14th, the top three teams that generate the most money or donations will have an opportunity to go to Centre D'Accueil Dante and personally hand out the donated gifts, enjoy a holiday luncheon and take a photo with the senior in their Valentine’s Day Photo booth.
Are you looking for ways to improve your focus, relaxation, and visualization of your goals? On February 26th, Mr. Lacroce is launching Monday Midday Meditation.
Meditation Mondays will include led meditations and mindfulness practices, short talks, Q&A sessions and discussions on both traditional and contemporary themes in meditation and mindfulness. Together we will also learn and practice breathing exercises, and simple and effective ways of creating some peace and space in our busy lives.
The deadline to signup with Mr. Lacroce is February 16th.
Dubbed the “Sox in a Box” campaign, students will donate new socks to: The West Island Women's Shelter, Dans La Rue, Chez Doris and The Benedict Labre House. Each school will also create personalized holiday gift boxes containing the new socks and bilingual messages of hope for the holiday season.
The campaign will culminate on December 12 (9:30 am to 2:45 pm) when students and staff from each participaiting school will come together at Rosemount High School (3737 Beaubien) to personally gift-wrap each donation and enjoy a holiday lunch.
In 2016, over 1,000 pairs of socks were collected.
