Rosemount High School Athletics program is built on a rich history of success and sportsmanship. It offers high-quality physical education programs and instruction by certified physical education teachers who stress four main goals of physical education:
Rosemount High School is equipped with two double gyms, a fitness room including high quality cardio machines as well as a three station Crossfit rig with an abundance of weight training equipment.
Students have access to lockers and changing rooms but are expected to bring a lock as the school is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
Rosemount high school prides itself in our student athletes. Participation in extra-curricular activities is subject to regular school attendance, consistent effort in a student's schoolwork and appropriate behaviour. If any of the aforementioned expectations are not being met, a student may be withdrawn from extra-curricular activities.
The following expectations must be met by all students participating in Intramural/GMAA activities:
Finally, you represent your school, teacher and teammates during an activity, whether it is at RHS, in another school or in transit. Your behaviour, therefore, must be at the highest level. Sportsmanship, adherence to game rules, courtesy to all officials, guests and hosts in other schools is expected at all times.
Students in Secondary 4 & 5 will have the opportunity to participate in our Athletic Leadership program. Students participate actively in class developing leadership skills through organized sports and games.
We are aware that good sports leaders have the same positive characteristics as other successful leaders. Besides an expert skill level and a keen understanding of their sport, coaches and other sports team leaders typically possess effective interpersonal skills, such as the ability to successfully communicate with, motivate and appreciate others. They must also be accountable, flexible and patient and maintain the same amount of integrity they expect from their team members and other sports leaders.
These are the attributes we try to develop within all our students particularly those who participate in our athletic leadership program.
The Physical Education Department offers a comprehensive sports program where teams compete against their peers from Rosemount High School.
The Physical Education Department and School administration at Rosemount High School recognize the importance of being healthy and encourage and support not only the students but also the staff in living healthy lifestyles. The mission of the Faculty/Staff Fitness and Wellness program is to increase awareness of healthy lifestyle behaviors and to provide convenient and attractive opportunities to practice these healthy lifestyle behaviors.
